The regionally-focused and seasonally-changing menu is driven by Chef McIlwraith’s extensive travels to Barcelona and highlights his own take on the cuisine of the region. Tapas-centric dishes feature Spanish ingredients and Catalan staples updated from his point of view. 

And we’re talking a Spanish experience, imagine garroxta cheese or Jamon Iberico de Bellota; albondigas, or lamb meatballs, with saffron braised noodles, currants, and pine nuts; Spanish flatbread with foie gras, membrillo, pickled peach, and candied pine nut; smoked and braised beef short rib with choricero pepper broth and horseradish; and a daily-changing seasonal paella serving two to four people. Artists in the Bay Area have also had their way with beautifying Barcino’s new digs, with art pieces including a large-scale metalwork installation of the Phoenician spelling of “Barcino” by Oldani Art Studio in Oakland and a mirrored etched map of ancient Barcelona by Oakland-based artist Dave Brandon.
