Gosu combines two past times of young people: pearls and beads. For those who didn’t catch the joke — we mean boba and raving. Their space, decked out in neon color galore, is becoming a spot where millennial can hang. Equipped with a fully functional boba bar, Tran thinks this concept will merge people together.
“We unite as humans, not as ravers,” he said, noting that he offers discounts for local members of law enforcement and the military. Tran is also partnering with nonprofits such as Project Ohana in the Bay, an organization that provides health education for Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander community members in San Francisco and Santa Clara counties. The organization will host an occasional information booth inside the cafe, and partner with Gosu for “Ohana Nights” with specialty drinks.
See what we wrote about the spot in December. Ultimately, we’re really interested in trying.

We definitely haven’t seen it all when it comes to the boba world — Gosu Tea Bar clearly is aiming to set some sort of world record with their EDM-style milk tea bar. Yes, you read that right.
So vibes are most definitely going to be shared among customers, as the owner of the newest tea bar believes in the basic human relation of P.L.U.R. What is PLUR, you may ask? Easy: Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect. The basics for all ravers alike (don’t ask me why I know this.) “Electronic Dance Music, a broad range of club and dance music, has been an inspiration to many people. We were inspired by the Mantra of PLUR. To continue the legacy of PLUR, we decided to incorporate this theme into our business” said owner and EDM-lover Joey Tran.
Serving a mix between famed classics (i.e Thai Milk Tea) and a menu of signature drinks, Joey hopes for the spot to be a community gathering space where like-minded individuals can come and enjoy their time, “It’s not about drugs or anything like that. You know how you go into a bar and see people fighting sometimes because they’re drunk, but you don’t see that at a rave because we believe in the concept of PLUR. That’s why I incorporated that.” he told Eater.
As of right now, drinks are priced around $5.50, include tea, lemonade, and juice, in customizable and signature mixes. Snacks, between $7 to $8, include bacon-wrapped avocado fries, savory and sweet waffles, “frushi” (fruit sushi made with coconut sticky rice.) With the space at it’s current 1,000-square feet, you can expect a lounge area with a multimedia setup for those who wish to chill to the max. Think: Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Tran hopes to host DJ’s and color coordinate the lights to their music.
