Ohio State Scholarships are awarded based on Merit and Need. There are five types of merit-based scholarships. They are the National Buckeye Scholarship; Eminence Fellow Program and Scholarship; Land Grant Opportunity Scholarship; Maximus, Provost and Trustees Scholarships; and Morrill Scholarship Program (MSP).

Merit Based Scholarships

Merit-based scholarships recognize and reward students at OSU who performs excellently academically or achieve personal excellence in their field of study.

Requirements for eligibility:

 You must be a full-time student.  You must be an undergraduate student.  You must maintain the required GPA by the time of assessment   If you achieve the minimum GPA criterion by the time your scholarship is evaluated, it will be automatically renewed for up to eight semesters.  Other eligibility conditions for specific programs may exist and will be relayed to you.

National Buckeye Scholarship

Benefit: Up to $13,500 ($54,000 four-year value)Criteria: Non-Ohio residents (but must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents) who are very intelligent as evidenced by class rank, GPA, SAT or ACT scores are considered.How to Apply: Students who are enrolled at the University for their First Undergraduate Degree will automatically be considered.

Eminence Fellow Program and Scholarship

Benefit: Full tuition for eight semesters and an enrichment award of up to $3,000 available after the first session of successful study.Criteria: U.S Citizen or permanent resident. Fellows are awarded based on academic performance, and all majors are considered.The following criteria are further used to evaluate applicants – Exceptional academic performance, communication, commitment to service, leadership, and teamwork-inspired experience.

How to Apply: Applicants must express their interest in the fellowship program and complete the corresponding essay when completing the admissions application.

Land Grant Opportunity Scholarship

Benefit: The OSU Land Grant Opportunity Scholarship covers the entire tuition fees for up to four years.Criteria: Eligible applicants must be Ohio residents; be Pell-eligible; among the top 5 in their high school class.How to Apply: Automatic consideration is given to Ohio residents that apply to the University for admission. Each year, 176 Ohio students are granted this scholarship, to pick two students from each county.

Maximus, Provost and Trustees Scholarships (MPS)

Benefit: $4,000–$12,000 in four year. That $1,000–$3,000 per year.Criteria: Ohio and non-Ohio residents (U.S. citizens or permanent residents) who are highly intelligent as indicated by class rank, grade point average, the rigor of high school curriculum, and SAT or ACT scores are eligible for the Maximus, Provost, and Trustees Scholarship atOSU. How to Apply: Candidates that apply to the University for admission are automatically considered.

Morrill Scholarship Program (MSP)

Benefits: The Morrill Scholarship is given at three levels: Distinction: Covers the tuition for both nonresidents and Ohio residents. Prominence: Covers the cost of in-state attendance plus the surcharge of nonresidents. Excellence: Equivalent to in-state tuition for only Ohio residents.

Criteria: Students on admission at the Columbus campus of the University for the autumn semester are considered for this scholarship after high school graduation on a competitive level.  How to Apply: Fill out an application for admission into OSU.

Include your participation in leadership and diversity on the activity list.

Once the admissions process is completed, your scholarship application is routed to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

A committee of staff and faculty members evaluates and recommends awards for essays.

Successful applications, together with the details of the offer are emailed to students. For record purposes, a formal letter is sent through the U. S Postal Service.

Ohio State’s Need-Based Scholarships

Need-based scholarships are financial help awarded to students based on their financial needs. Students from poor backgrounds may be eligible for need-based scholarship monies, and eligibility is evaluated based on family income. To be eligible, students’ Expected Family Contribution (EFC) must be less than a particular sum, which varies according to the program.

OSU awards various scholarships to incoming freshmen on admission into the university in acknowledgment of outstanding academic performance. Most OSU scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, while others take financial needs into account. Merit scholarships are not available to international freshmen.

Can Transfer Students Apply for Merit Scholarships?Merit-based scholarships are not accessible to transfer students. What is the Minimum ACT Score for a Full Ride Scholarship in Ohio?There is no definite ACT requirement; however, preference is given to candidates with a score above 28. Does OSU Participate in the National Merit Scholarship Programme?OSU is not part of the National Scholarship Program. However, many National Merit Finalistsare great candidates for university-sponsored scholarships.
